It sounds like you know keepaway well. I do recall hearing about horror movies that involve them, yeah. A lot of horror movies involve kids in general. I suppose it’s the juxtaposition of supposed innocence meeting corruption. Though I can say with certainty the innocence of youth is greatly overrated.

Foolish. And dangerous, for being foolish. It was just a bit of small science I hadn’t seen before. I survived however to not make the mistake again. Whether ghosts exist or not, no reason to let one’s self end up on the back foot.

I had three brothers, I learned it early. And that does make sense. Most people get scared of things not being what they seem. That's why there's so many movies about Kindred.

Oh, they do exist. A friend back in Vegas gets haunted one night every year, they have to just kinda hide it out. That small science can do that, too, is good to know.

Mm, yes and no on the small sciences being able to do it. It was a very particular circumstance, one that isn’t likely to be replicated. A tidemaker who’d been forced to become hooked on jurda parem. I saw them seep through a wall and look on death’s door, hence the mistake. I doubt they’re alive any longer.

Nothing quite like eternal puberty and cliques to get that creativity flowing. Though they also nix having to stay out of the sun, which feels like cheating.

That's certainly a version of a ghost I'd hope no one tries to replicate, even accidentally.

Agreed. Merchers were torturing Grisha for the sake of curiosity and to make them better guard dogs. It was bad. Still is, but the drug isn't as accessible now.

It's getting to be that season where TV starts showing everything vampire and werewolf.

The creator was killed and the known remaining samples hidden, but I'm too cynical to think they're all under lock and key. There is a cure, but the amount of resources needed makes it infeasible to mass produce.

I agree, I don’t think they will stop trying. For now though, I’m not too worried about it. Subject to change of course should the wrong hands get on it again. I hope there isn’t ever a drug equivalent for your kind, either.

I'll keep an ear out for anyone talking about new old drugs, then, and keep you informed. And as far as I know, there isn't. Unless you count when one of us consumes another Kindred to gain their power.

I won’t deny that holds some amusement, but no, I wouldn’t blackmail you. I suppose I’ll just have to wait for the fangs to pop out and see if I can hear anything amiss.

Likewise, if I hear anything that goes the other way. Consuming another Kindred sounds as cannibalistic as I’m sure it is. Though with humans, nobody actually gains any power when they do it.

The roof is becoming a second stage at this point. Not that I'm complaining.

The only thing I know about auras is that they're sometimes tied to migraines, which I thankfully don't get.

I think those are different? There's some Kindred that can learn to see them, like... Colors that float around you. And all the colors mean different things, so they can get good idea of who you are and some of what you've done without you even noticing. Though maybe they can also tell if you're having a migraine.

The exclusive seating is a perk, there’s some great views. I might need some assistance carrying drinks up there, but otherwise, no complaints. I can always go the flask route, anyway.

Oh yeah, I figured it was more mystical in nature when vampires did it. I just meant it’s another area that I’m really not familiar with. Kindred have done well keeping a lot of things within their sphere. Then again, after getting involved in some Grisha politics, I also know better than to go poking too much at another shadowy questionable structure - at least not without good reason. Learning what you're willing to share though I like. Less chance of my entrails ending up on the outside when I ask a follow up question.

You could always go for a picnic basket or something. It'd fit your drinks and lots of jerky.

I'm glad I can share. There's a lot I won't get into if only because they wouldn't be my secrets to tell, but it's nice not having to talk around things. Plus, you get the benefit of a solid baseline of information if you do ever decide to start poking at some other Kindred nonsense. We certainly have plenty of it to go around.

I’m glad you feel you can share what you have. Both for future use, and it is nice sometimes to not have as much pretense. Likewise, not everyone would be as open as you’ve been to associating with gang members.

Indeed. Sand is especially insidious and chafing and should be eradicated, anyway. Palm trees can stay, though.

Cacti are quite resilient, aren’t they? I can’t fault them for existing. One of my crew keeps threatening to get me one for my office. Something about it needing something green in it and myself and the cacti getting along. Though I don't think the similarities she had in mind ended with resiliency.
