He gave a crisp nod of agreement at her mention of the other buyers. Even if they didn’t have the means of production, their interest was alarming enough. There seemed to be a never-ending supply of people in the world with too much money to be trusted to keep. “No, I’m certain you’re right. It’s an avenue worth pursuing after we deal with this angle. If we send out a rumor about a similar product that is soon to hit the market, through a very reputable network of course, we could likely draw out a similar crowd. We can also look and see if there’s any remaining list of who the potential buyers were when we break into the facility. Even if they tried to wipe it all, there’s a chance traces were left.”
His finger slowly rubbed along the edge of the mug, schemes unfolding in his mind as he mused. He had no doubt that Yelena could infiltrate without a problem, moving silent like a shadow inside, and he could ensure the security locking them out was taken care of so alarms wouldn’t alert them to their presence. “I have the blueprints of the building, and I can ensure the security systems won’t be a problem. There will be guards inside, but I can get you their routine so you can know ahead of time which ones you’ll have to handle." He liked that she asked the relevant questions, it showed she wasn't one to enter foolhardy. "All intel points that this will be their location, but I’ve got eyes on them in case that shifts. I’ll send the details to you, if you think you can be ready to go by tonight.”
This was her stint, have a job, get the facts, get the layout, do the task. Only thing that changes are the people she worked with or if she's working alone. She nodded her head to his answers to her questions, satisfied with what he was saying and relived he agreed with her on handling the other buyers. However as he pointed out, the task at hand needed to he handled first and she could do it. "Tonight will be fine, I just need an hour max to map things out." She could do within a shorter time frame, but she wanted to make sure she had it all down before she went in.
Picking up her cup again, she took a longer sip of her coffee, "How do you want the guards handed, just knocked out?" she had no issues handling it whatever way he'd like.
“Knocked out is preferred, so far we’ve kept it off official radars, but I trust your judgment. If for any reason you risk exposure of your identity, we can work around a body left cold.” There’s a practical edge to all of his actions. Police could be bought over and manipulated, bodies easily enough hidden from them even knowing, but it’s an extra step they could ideally avoid. Yelena’s an incredibly gifted infiltrator, and if anyone could get to and out with only their target aware, he trusts it’s her. However, he also knows that things happen that are unexpected. It’s not worth putting any of them at risk, her included, if she’s ID’ed or noticed before she’s knocked them out. Better to hide a body now than have them alert however many more when they wake. He’s practical, but he’s also protective of those whom he’s working with along with worrying over his own survival. “There’ll be an escape vehicle positioned at the vacate exit route on the prints, and I’ve secured several locations for them to head towards depending on whether you’ll need backup at that point or not.”
He refills his mug, coffee entirely counting as a complete meal by his standards. “I assume you want to be present when we question them. I’d like to hear your input, anyway.”
"I can easily do knock out," she had her widow stings that would handle that quickly. She leaned back, nodding her head to his plans, having nothing to add, he truly thinks about everything which is why she does favor working with him. "Same team as always?" she asked, since he did tend to like to work with the same people and she liked his team. When he said he would assume she would want to be there for questioning, she nodded her head, "Yes," she stated as she leaned forward again, "I have a few things I'd like to know for my own sake" and for her main employer, though it was left unspoken.
Her hand reached for the mug, downing the coffee and sitting it back down. She wasn't going to get another cup especially since she didn't want to be jittery on her mission.
There’s a momentary pause before Kaz replies in an even tone, “The Wraith won’t be joining. Roeder will be the spider on hand should you need backup inside.” Roeder is another member of the Dregs, someone who is solid at his job and loyal to Kaz. He’s never been Kaz’s first choice as a spider, not until Inej has left, but he is a decent one who can have Yelena’s back. Kaz has simply pressed on, business as usual, not acknowledging the ache left when his gaze lingers at his window. While Inej is missed, Kaz doesn’t regret giving her the means to pursue slavers and protect women like her. Those that are closest to him, his Crows, Kaz would do anything for them. That includes letting them fly when their wings need stretching. He doesn’t go into any further details on it though, leaving it simply as Inej no longer being with them.
Finishing off his cup, he sets it down and gives a small nod. He figured that she would want to witness the questioning. A small price to pay, the sharing of information. Admittedly Kaz’s tendency is to hold all his cards to his vest alone, but that isn’t always the wisest play. He trusts Yelena to be smart about what is shared, and even be a benefit in what questions she might ask. “I’ll have the plans sent over then, let me know if any questions or concerns arise prior to the meeting time.”
